프로그램 스폰서

미국무부가 주관하는 “교환방문자 프로그램”에 있어, 운영주체인 “프로그램 스폰서"는 중요한 위치를 차지합니다. 참가지원자가 특정 프로그램에 참가할 수 있는지에 대한 여부를 결정하는 역할, 특정 프로그램에 대한 모든 정보를 참가지원자 또는 참가자에게 자세히 알려주는 공식적인 창구로써의 역할, 그리고 참가자가 미국에 머무는 동안 그들을 지원하고 감독하는 역할 등, 프로그램이 원활하게 운영되도록, 참으로 많은 일을 하기 때문입니다.

KoAm은 미국무부가 승인한 두 개의 프로그램 스폰서와 Partnership을 맺고, 이들과 함께 아래 명기된 “프로그램 스폰서로서의 책임과 의무”를 성실히 수행합니다.

Obligations of training program sponsors

미국무부의 승인을 받아 “Trainee Program (전문인 교류 프로그램)”을 운영하는 “프로그램 스폰서”는:
Sponsors designated by the Department to administer training and internship programs must:

  • 1참가자가 적절하게(appropriately) 선발되고, 배치되고, 사전교육을 받고, 관리되고, 평가됨을 확인한다.
    Ensure that trainees and interns are appropriately selected, placed, oriented, supervised, and evaluated;
  • 2참가자와 호스트 기관을 돕는 조력자, 조언자, 정보 제공자로서, 언제든지 연락이 가능하여야 한다.
    Be available to trainees and interns (and host organizations, as appropriate) to assist as facilitators, counselors, and information resources;
  • 3“Trainee Program”이, 참가자를 위한 배움의 기회가 될 뿐 아니라, 참가자가 호스트 기관에 기여하는 기능도 있으므로, 이 둘 사이에 균형을 잡을 수 있어야 한다.
    Ensure that training and internship programs provide a balance between the trainees' and interns' learning opportunities and their contributions to the organizations in which they are placed;
  • 4“Trainee Program”이 주당 최소 32시간을 소요하는 full-time 과정임을 확인해야 한다.
    Ensure that the training and internship programs are full-time (minimum of 32 hours a week); and
  • 5호스트 기관은 물론 “프로그램 스폰서”를 대신하여 일부 역할을 담당하는 제3기관들이 “교환 방문자 프로그램”의 목적과 취지와 규칙을 충분히 인식하게 할 뿐 아니라, 그들로 하여금 새로이 만들어 지는 규율을 엄수하도록 해야 한다.
    Ensure that any host organizations and third parties involved in the recruitment, selection, screening, placement, orientation, evaluation for, or the provision of training and internship programs are sufficiently educated on the goals, objectives, and regulations of the Exchange Visitor Program and adhere to all regulations set forth in this part as well as all additional terms and conditions governing Exchange Visitor Program administration that the Department may from time to time impose.
