참가자격

I.  기본자격

외국인으로서,

  • 1고등교육기관(대학)으로부터 받은 학위 또는 전문 자격증을 소지하고 관련 분야에서 1년 이상의 경험이 있는자, 또는
  • 2관련 분야, 이 경우 교육관련 분야에서 5년 이상의 경험이 있는 자

A trainee must be a foreign national who:

  • 1Has a degree or professional certificate from a foreign post-secondary academic institution and at least one year of prior related work experience in his or her occupational field outside the United States; or
  • 2Has five years of work experience outside the United States in the occupational field in which they are seeking training.

II.  영어능력

아래 법조항에 따라 KoAm은 다음과 같은 기준에 따라 TTP 참가자들의 영어능력을 점검합니다.

  • 1공식 영어능력시험 성적 - TOEIC 790점, TOEFL(IBT) 90점, 또는 그에 상응하는 타 영어 시험 점수

관련 법조항 - 22 CFR 62.10(a)(2)

The exchange visitor possesses sufficient proficiency in the English language, as determined by an objective measurement of English language proficiency, successfully to participate in his or her program and to function on a day-to-day basis. A sponsor must verify an applicant's English language proficiency through a recognized English language test, by signed documentation from an academic institution or English language school, or through a documented interview conducted by the sponsor either in-person or by videoconferencing, or by telephone if videoconferencing is not a viable option.

III.  경제적 능력

아래 두 법조항은, J-1 Visa Program 참가자에게 요구되는 “경제적 능력”에 대한 기준을 언급하고 있습니다.

“참가자는, 교류기간 동안 자신과 동반가족을 위해, 거주 및 생활 비용을 포함하는 모든 경비를 감당할 만한 경제적 능력이 있어야 한다.”

사실, 당연한 참가자격입니다. 내용을 자세히 보면, 실습과 훈련을 위한 제공하는 호스트기관에 내는 교육비, 자녀의 학비, 등이 포함되지 않는다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 따라서, 참가자에게 요구되는 “경제적 능력"은 결국, J-1 Visa Program을 장려하기 위해 미국정부가 법적인 권한 내에서 줄 수 있는 경제적 특혜를 제외한 모든 경비에 대해서는 참가자가 부담해야 한다는 의미입니다.

(b) Verification. (1) Prior to issuing Forms DS-2019, sponsors must verify that each prospective exchange visitor:
     (ii) Possesses adequate financial resources to participate in and complete his or her exchange visitor program; and
     (iii) Possesses adequate financial resources to support an accompanying spouse and dependents, if any.

(e) Issuance of Forms DS-2019. In addition to the requirements set forth in Subpart A, sponsors must ensure that:
     (2) Trainees and interns have sufficient finances to support themselves for their entire stay in the United States, including housing and living expenses
